The Celtic Cross Layout is practically the gold standard of tarot readings. Having purportedly survived since the Middle Ages it is a ten card spread that offers opportunities to review the past influences that have lead to the present position of the querent, and provides insights into the outcome of any particular situation taking into account the querents subconscious influences, environment, and hopes or fears.
1 - the present situation,
2 - the circumstances that make it interesting,
3 - the foundational issues
4 - energies passing away (let go of these)
5 - perceived ideal
6 - energies approaching (reach for these)
7 - you (the role you fulfill in the situation)
8 - your house (environmental influences)
9 - hopes/fears (yours, and others around you)
10 - what will be (the guidance of the cards)
This is a good all-purpose layout and may reveal insight into daily influences as well as energies and influences reaching several weeks or months into the future.
