*TEN OF PENTACLES*
Ten golden pentacles hang beneath an archway decorated with the emblems of a castle keep and balanced scales in a market square. Seated beneath these emblems is an older gentleman with white hair and beard. He is richly robed in a vibrant tapestry of red green and golden color in a pattern of mystical symbols and ripened vines. Two white dogs accompany this gentleman and a small child peers at the dogs from behind his mother while she passes conversation with a wand-carrying man in the market square. The sky overhead is blue and untroubled.
(Group finances or investments, Community resources, family, age, wisdom, deceit, loyalty) |
|
*NINE OF PENTACLES*
A richly robed noblewoman relaxes in a bountiful and apparently fruitful garden. Seated on her gloved left hand is a hooded hawk, a symbol of the leisure pursuits of the rich. In the far distance there are city walls beyond a line of trees. The landscape appears to be calm beneath a golden sunset.
(Material Comfort, reaping the harvest, slow paced, powerful, natural succession) |
|
*EIGHT OF PENTACLES*
A lone, conscientious, artist is hard at work. Seven pentacles reflecting material accomplishment, are already finished and the artist is completing an eighth one. In the distance there is a golden path that leads through a dense woodland to a pristine city illuminated beneath a clear mid-day sky.
(Material Accomplishment, Final Touches, Reaching Conclusion, work, achievement, pride, close to an end) |
|
*THE SEVEN OF PENTACLES*
A gardener is considering a vineyard heavily laden with ripened fruit as symbolized by seven pentacles. He is resting his arms on his hoe in an attitude of contemplation. While these pentacles appear to be large and fully ripe he has not yet harvested them. He is dressed in a plain workmans tunic, but the blue sleeves of a shirt can be seen beneath this tunic to indicate the emotional underpinnings of his efforts. The sky overhead is golden and cloudless.
(Delay, Patience, rest, reflection, work to do yet, obstacles that seem large but are not insurmountable) |
|
*THE SIX OF PENTACLES*
A generous and richly robed nobleman offers charitable gifts to one of two supplicants before him. As four coins fall from his right hand the noblemans' fingers remain in the same shape of blessing used by the High Priest. In his left hand he carries balanced scales to indicate the intuitional balance of need against worth in generous endeavors. It appears that this nobleman is offering his coins to only one of these mendicants, but not the other. Perhaps he has already given to the second one. Perhaps he is about to. Perhaps he has only enough for one. (fortune, charity, grace, balance, justice, something hidden) |
|
*THE FIVE OF PENTACLES*
Two people in tattered clothing struggle past a stained glass window filled with light reflecting through five pentacles. One of these thinly garbed unfortunates pulls a patched shawl more tightly around her shoulders. She has no shoes to protect her feet from the snow. The other is on crutches with a bell hanging around his neck. His head is bandaged as is his injured foot. His other foot is bare against the cold ice of the pathway beneath him.
(Material Need, Overlooking Material Opportunity, Sickness, abandonment, not accepted, forgotten) |
|
*THE FOUR OF PENTACLES*
This card reveals a seated figure wearing a red tunic and bearing a small undecorated crown clutching a pentacle with both hands and securing two more beneath his feet. The fourth is hovering overhead, still within his reach, but, preoccupied as he is with what he is already clinging to, he has no way to grab more. In the distance there are the rooftops of a city skyline beneath a gray undifferentiated sky.
(Material Stability, confidence, security, an overall view) |
|
*THE THREE OF PENTACLES*
Three craftsmen are hard at work with tools and blueprints in the completed shell of a fine structure. These figures are apparently discussing the fine details of their present design in a cooperative effort to achieve an expansion. One of these figures is wearing the apron of an artisan, and one is wearing a clerics robes while the third figure is robed in some official finery. This indicates a cooperation between different levels of authority and ability in order to achieve a completion. (School, Education, Apprenticeship, an offering, secrecy, a trade off, something badly wanted or needed) |
|
*THE TWO OF PENTACLES*
A juggler in a tall hat (somewhat reminiscent of a jester's hat) handles two pentacles within a green tinged lemniscate, the symbol of eternity. Although the skies behind this figure are blue and cloudless, in the distance a large sailing ship and a somewhat smaller craft can be seen tossed upon the large swells of a turbulent sea. This juggler wears shoes of green, which may indicate a financial foundation for this juggling act, and he appears to be unevenly balanced upon his feet.
(Shifting Material resources, uncertainty, attempting to balance, not smooth sailing, effort) |
|
*ACE OF PENTACLES*
A fertile garden of flowering rosebushes and lilies sits empty. These flowers may represent love and purity. The path through the garden has no footprints upon it. A hand descends from the single cloud in the sky to offer a large golden pentacle. The sky overhead is gray and, with the exception of the cloud surrounding the pentacle, empty. (New Financial Opportunity, a gift, divine guidance, reward, end of the struggle, freedom) |
